History
Self-Reflections was founded by two clinical social workers; Nisha Tebear-Coolman, LMSW and Michael St. John, LMSW. Their goal in private practice was to help meet the emense mental health needs of the human service field. After years of directly serving the public mental health system, this was their opportunity to give back to the local community. Through a holistic approach, they provide professional clinical services using best practices and empirically proven methods. A high value was placed on confidentially and coordinating care with other providers.
At the start of the practice, they provided mental health therapy directly to the clients. After a few years, it was determined that, although there is a tremendous need for mental health therapy, there is a greater need in providing support at a higher level. This was a very difficult transition but it was done with client care and sustainable community support in mind.
Since that transition started, collaboration, consulting, and contracts with human service entities have been the focus of the practices efforts. Within those roles, more thoughtful thorough, and trauma informed work will continue to spread. Not only is this done for the clients but for the staff, the businesses, and the community as a whole. It is important that systems are considered, collaborative, and supported if lasting wellness is to be had.
